OVERVIEW OF COMPUTER FORENSIC EXAMINATION

Computer Forensics

Computer forensics are the scientific processes used to track all traces of activity on networks and data storage devices.

Computers, PDA's, mobile phones, thumb drives—in fact, just about any media can be interrogated to reveal the changes made to and movements made on their contents.

The techniques, which are used by Law Enforcement agencies worldwide to deconstruct digital scenes of crime, are now increasingly employed in industry to provide evidence for court testimony.

Computer Forensic Examinations

Data discovery

Fears or suspicions about staff computer activity can be checked without causing any alarm or disruption.

Forensic testing is invisible to the computer user.

Data recovery

Accidentally deleted files and folders can be rescued. Crashed computers can be made to give back information on hard drives.

Digital document analysis

Electronic documents have their history embedded in their code. The dates and times of creation and changes, author names and even details of what machines and drives documents have been stored on can be retrieved.

This is especially useful for lawyers and others conducting E-discovery.
